Do I have to file a T2 tax return if my corporation had no activity?
Yes. All corporations — including non-profit organizations, tax-exempt corporations, and inactive corporations — must file a T2 Corporate Tax Return every year, even if there is no tax payable.
When is the T2 filing deadline?
Your T2 must be filed within 6 months of your fiscal year end. However, taxes owing must be paid within 3 months of your fiscal year end to avoid interest charges.
What happens if I file my T2 tax return late?
The late filing penalty is 5% of unpaid tax due on the filing deadline, plus 1% for each complete month the return is late. Interest also applies to unpaid amounts.
What do you need from me to file my T2 corporate tax return?
We need a complete set of financial statements including a balance sheet, income statement, and amortization schedule of assets. If you have a copy of your previous year T2, that is also helpful. You can drop them off in person or send them as a PDF or JPEG.
How quickly does my T2 get done?
